In one of the most dramatic upsets of CHAN history, Kenya, reduced to ten men, defeated two-time champions Morocco 1–0 to remain unbeaten and surge toward the quarter-finals of the 2024 TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) PAMOJA 2024.
The decisive moment came in the 42nd minute, when Ryan Ogam rifled home a left-footed strike at the Moi International Sports Centre, igniting a euphoric response from the partisan home crowd.
This breakthrough proved invaluable after Chrispine Erambo was sent off in first-half stoppage time, the result of a VAR upgrade from a yellow to a straight red card, forcing Kenya to battle with ten men throughout the second half.
Despite Morocco’s pedigree and 14-match unbeaten CHAN run, Kenya’s grit held firm.
