Vipers SC 0-0 CS Sfaxien
Vipers SC pulled a recognizable point off fierce Club Sportif of Tunisia at Kitende on Saturday to light up their hopes of debuting at the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.
The Ugandan champions, who dropped into the competition after being ejected at the previous round of CAF Champions league stage, failed to put away to make use of home advantage to ease pressure in the one-week’s return leg.
Disappointing Noah Wafula missed two seaters as the Venoms looked the most daring side on the sunny evening. CS Sfaxien struggled with the artificial turf and coach Ruud Krol admitted that they were not used to it.
“It was a close contest, my team started with a good passing game but we got sloppy as the game went on. Vipers are a good team and we expect it to be tougher in Tunisia,” Ruud noted.
Vipers Coach Michael Ouma is optimistic that his side can ably take on the four-time winners in Tunisia when the two sides meet his weekend to determine who proceeds to the group stages.
