Play-off stage
Saturday result
AS Otoho 3-0 KCCA
KCCA FC Manager Mike Mutebi insists he has enough in the arsenal to overturn the hefty first leg defeat for his side to progress to the Group stage of this season’s CAF Confederations Cup. The Uganda Cup holders were hammered 3-0 by Congo Brazzaville side AS Otoho on Sunday in the play-off stage, first leg at the Stade Omnisport Marien Ngouabi, Owando. KCCA conceded twice in the opening half; including a questionable penalty that resulted into the opener slotted home by Moussa inside the opening 20 minutes.

Two minutes later, Moussa pounced on a loose ball from the midfield to extend the hosts’ lead. Substitute Kikasa Wamba struck the third in the second stanza as the Brazzaville side carries a strong 3-0 advantage into the return leg.
KCCA missed several goal scoring chances and Mutebi dismisses sentiments that it is all over for his side in the competition. “It is not over! AS Otoho were just effective in the final third and we were not.
We were never outplayed at all. The difference is that they buried the chances they got and we did not.
We did not come to Congo to play a containing game and we head into the second leg with plenty of lessons from this game.
We shall have to be more effective in the final third and we will score goals at home,” Mutebi is quoted by club website.
KCCA needs a 4-0 home win in the return leg this Sunday at StarTimes stadium, Lugogo to progress.
