Roy Mubiru (RM) power lifting and cross fit athlete and director Roy Mubiru, returned to the country on Saturday from USA; where he has been representing the country at the international state.
“I am happy to return home with a medal after beating 15 global athletes. It has not been an easy journey because I sponsor myself which a little bit daunting.
Government should fund sports; especially individual sports like ours which seems forgotten,” said Mubiru, who added that: “I had to take care of myself and my family which is off-putting but I won’t give up because I think I have a duty to lift my country’s flag high globally.” Mubiru, a highly ranked power lifter globally last won Uganda a medal last year at the 31st annual bay championship held in Fitchburg, Massachusetts in USA.

Mubiru, who is in the country to motivate and encourage upcoming athletes, will be part of this month’s power lifting and cross fit championship event to be held at satellite Elite fitness center, Kisasi on January 26.
He will be joined by American Terry Harcleroad, who triples as a power lifting trainer, football coach and a lifter.
