Uganda Cubs fail Burundi test, unmoved

The Uganda U17 National team (Cubs) lost 2-0 away to Burundi U20 side in an international friendly played at the Stade Prince Louis Rwagasore, Bujumbura on Tuesday. A goal in each half from Cedric Mavugo and Bienvenue Kanakimana gave the home side the victory. The game was the first of the many planned build-ups for the Cubs that are preparing for the Total AFCON U17 final due April this year in Tanzania. Uganda Cubs’ first assistant coach Jackson Magera cited positives from the build-up despite the loss. “I am impressed with the performance of the players. There are many aspects technically and tactically that we have to improve upon; especially how to defend well and convert the created chances. We shall continue to improve,” he noted after the game.
