Last year, Aziz Damani cricket club became the first men’s club since Tornado (2012), to claim both the National T20 honors and the regular league (50 overs) silverware (Division One). Aziz Damani ladies also claimed a double in their category to sum up a memorable year for the team in yellow. The story of Aziz Damani is a testimony of hard work, dedication, devotion and collective efforts –making them stand out. A few years back, Aziz Damani –originally a cricket club, turned into a sports club (Aziz Damani Sports Club). They have since then broadened their wings to football, badminton, tennis and even sponsoring the volleyball league playoffs. However, with the men’s cricket team being the sports club’s component; it is very clear that every success registered is a replica of the positive progress going on. Aziz Damani Sports Club C.E.O Siva Koti believes that their men’s cricket team has surely come of age and knocking them off might cost rivals a lot. “We are aiming at strengthening all our cricket teams in various aspects. We just finished a camp holiday in Kasese and by the time the league resumes, we shall be more than ready. The target is to retain all our titles,’’ Siva Koti noted. Free spending Siva Koti also revealed plans to add in new players to all the sides; especially the junior teams before adding that there are plans to unveil the U13 female cricket team. Siva Koti noted that they will be very busy in the off-season, both on and off the oval –engaging in cricket and community activities. “There are plans to take the game to the Karamoja region first by constructing ovals and later conduct clinics,” he added. Aziz Damani’s U13 boys’ team was undefeated in Division Three last season. Football outfits Katoke FC and Doves All Stars FC are also directly subscribed to the club among other projects.
