Stanbic Uganda Cup
Express FC stormed to the round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after their 2-1 win against FUFA Big league side Water FC on Thursday at the Betway Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku. Midfielder Ibrahim Kayiwa was the hero after heading home a last minute gasp to take the 10-time winners to the next stage after being ejected by Fufa Big league side Kitara FC at round of 32 last season. Express took the lead through Tony Odur’s penalty after goal keeper Aggrey Kirigooli collided with the striker. After the break, Water equalized through an own goal; when a defender John Revita poked the ball into his own net. The hosting Water looked the hungrier side on the evening but the Kefa Kisala side hanged on to a toiled victory. The Red Eagles become the latest successful club at that stage as Vipers, Police, Kyetume, BUL, URA, Bukedea Town Council, Nkambi Coffee and Kitara. The Stanbic-sponsored Uganda Cup returns this Saturday with two fixtures on card. Nyamityobora host Proline at Kakyeka stadium, Mbarara while Nebbi central welcomes Admin FC at Nebbi grounds.
