CAF Confederations Cup
KCCA FC 2-0 AS Otoho d’Oyo (Agg: 2-0)
AS Otoho d’Oyo survived a frantic finish at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo to reach the CAF Confederations Cup group stage on 3-2 aggregate despite losing 2-0 at KCCA FC on Sunday. This was a play-off, return leg after the Congo Brazzaville side won 3-0 at home in the first leg a week earlier. KCCA, trailing 3-0 from the first leg, needed to score four times without reply to progress but wasted a series of chances in an open game. Patrick Kaddu gave the Mike Mutebi’s side lead three minutes past hour mark from close after pouncing on Allan Okello’s cross to head home. Okello later grabbed his on the day when he scored from the spot in the last minute of normal. By the final whistle, the hosts were short of two goals and their continental journey this season painfully came to an end.

After a goalless first half, KCCA dominated play and attacked dangerously in the second half –with Allan Kyambadde shooting wide having a keeper to beat. In the opening half, Kyambadde called for a penalty in the 35th minute but the referee waved play on. Kaddu attempted a volley inside the 16th minute but the goal keeper was up to the task.

Muzamir Mutyaba had his two efforts saved by keeper from close early in the opening half. KCCA went up to the group stage of CAF Champions League last season, but overturning a 3-0 first leg defeat against an organised Brazzaville was a hard task to accomplish. The focus now shifts to retention of the Stanbic Uganda Cup and also chasing the StarTimes premier league where they start second round with a trip to Mbarara City on January 30.
