Stanbic Uganda Cup
Round of 32
Tooro United vs KCCA FC, Fort portal
Kireka United vs Wakiso Giants, Namboole
Kiboga Young vs St Mary’s, Kiboga
After falling out of CAF Confederations Cup at the hands of AS Otoho d’Oyo of Congo Brazzaville on a 3-2 aggregate on Sunday, KCCA FC hope to make amends this Tuesday when they visit fellow premier league side Tooro United in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 fixture at Buhinga stadium, Fort Portal. The holders and joint record 10-time winners walloped lower division side Amuka Bright Stars 8-2 at the round of 64 to storm this stage while Tooro United went past Entebbe FC.
At the season start, KCCA FC manager Mike Mutebi said that success at the continent was the priority but reiterated desire to retain the Uganda Cup and also fight for the premier league title. KCCA lead the top flight log currently and hope to see off Tooro United to strengthen their chances of Cup defence. “We fell short of our continental target and are going to concentrate on local achievement. I am proud of my team; they played with no fear and with that character, I believe we are good. The understanding of the game is fantastic,” Mutebi said after his side’s 2-0 home win against Otoho on Sunday. Tooro United will derive confidence from the fact that they are yet to lose at home since migrating to Fort Portal. Only SC Villa and Bright Stars have managed to grab a point from Buhinga stadium and Wasswa Bbosa has a full squad for choice. The visitors meanwhile will use the same squad that played against Otoho on Sunday with only two changes. Bernard Muwanga and Lawrence Bukenya come in for Filbert Obenchan and Mustafa Kizza while Eric Senjobe, Sadam Juma and Jackson Nunda remain on the sidelines.
