URA vs SC Vipers, Namboole

Vipers SC can pile pressure on StarTimes Uganda premier league leaders KCCA FC if they beat unpredictable hosts URA FC at Namboole stadium this Friday. KCCA are already done with their first round matches and a victory for Vipers puts the defending champions to 32 points to cut the point gap to four. Vipers will complete their first round with a home clash against rejuvenated Mbarara City on Sunday. The Venoms come off an epic CAF Confederations Cup two-leg encounter and must be at their best against URA whose head coach Sam Ssimbwa was suspended by Fufa over putting the game is disrepute following his alleged comments after his controversial away game at Kirinya Jinja SSS recently. In the previous 26 meetings, Vipers have won five, drawn 10 and lost eleven times –which is not a record for the visitors albeit winning on last trip 1-0 courtesy of Erisa Ssekisambu goal. Yayo Lutimba and Innocent Wafula are expected to return for Vipers while goal keeper Bashir Sekagya remains out. Bashir Asiku returns from suspension. Vipers also come into the fixture at the back announcing technical changes –with a good number of players that joined this season off loaded. The most shocking move was the release of exciting Frank Tumwesigye Zaga on loan to Express FC until the end of the season. Other players that were told to find options are; Davis Kasirye, Aggrey Madoi, Ndizeye Sefu, Dickens Okwir, Fred Okot and Noah Wafula.
