Uganda premier league

Tuesday

Police vs Nyamityobora, Lugogo

Nyamityobora FC President Eng. Ben Misagga is sure that his side will beat relegation despite finishing first round in the red zone. The Abanyakale finished first round third from bottom with 9 points, five below safety and open their second round against Police FC this Tuesday at StarTimes stadium, Lugogo. “We must stay in the premier league.

We have tried to recruit young, focused and ambitious fresh players with the signings done by the coach himself,” noted Misagga. Nyamityobora has a strange administration set up with no defined roles of club chairperson, president and patron which makes decision making a problem. Misagga also believes that newly promoted clubs in this set ought to struggle because FUFA put complicated conditions to fulfil so as to get licensed. He says that steering a relegation battling club from a title challenging side is a career curve which readies him for a bigger challenge –like FUFA Presidency, CAF and FIFA seat. Ahead of this Tuesday tie, Nyamityobora FC Head Coach Asaph Mwebaze is optimistic his side will collect maximum points; having lost the reverse fixture 2-1 at home while they still hosted at Betway Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku. “The boys are fine and ready to go. The new signings have trained well and I hope their licenses will be ready by game time,” noted Mwebaze. Nyamityobora has already confirmed eight new changes, including one goal keeper, striker, two defenders and four strikers.  Uganda U-20 goalkeeper Denis Otim was joined by Joel Ayoku (Doves All Stars), Edgar Mujuni (Agape Lions), John Sserunjogi (Kikyusa), Damien Nakalema (Water), Fred Mayindi (Riverside Forest Park), Peter Mutebi (SC Villa Jogoo Youth) and James Tongi (Bweyogerere). Mwebaze is certain that the new recruits are handy to the club’s ambitions of avoiding relegation. Meanwhile, Police FC Head Coach Abdullah Mubiru knows that Nyamityobora will give them a challenge but his charges are ready. The Cops, who will be without injured Andrew Okiring, are 8th on the 16-team log with 21 points after 15 games while Nyamityobora are 14th with 9 points from as many games.
