StarTimes Uganda Premier league Sunday resultVipers SC 1-1 Mbarara City
Vipers blew a first half 1-0 lead to draw 1-1 at home against charged Mbarara City on Sunday at the St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende. Striker Dan Sserunkuma scored his 9th of the campaign to stretch Vipers unbeaten run into the second round and deny the Ankole Lions a famous win at Kitende which would have been their second away victory of the season. Just a minute after missing inside the goal area, Dan Sserunkuma gave the dominant but wasteful hosts lead in the 16th minute but Mbarara City found the equaliser through their record signing Paul Mucurezi just seven minutes after restart. The meant that the reigning champions finished first round with 33 points, 3 below leaders KCCA FC whilst Mbarara City sitting third with 28 points. The Livingstone Mbabazi side was starting life under new captain Hillary Mukundane (Pilsner Man of the match) after Asuman Halishe joined former side SC Villa on a reported two-year deal. Actually, yesterday’s game was Mukundane’s third with the armband and has not lost any. Alishe had fallen behind in the pecking order as Mbabazi preferred Mukundane and Rashid Mohammed in the centre back. Meanwhile, the Ankole Lions have also confirmed that goal keeper Jackson Opio, Bassey Methodius, Noah Akanakimala are out on loan while Elieazer Okorie, Sam Kasiime and Hamim Semakula have been released. The second round kicks off this Tuesday with two fixtures on card. Eighth placed Police welcome 14th placed Nyamityobora at StarTimes stadium, Lugogo while 10th placed Tooro United are at home against 7th placed and boosted Express at Buhinga stadium, Fort Portal.
