Mbarara City 0-0 KCCA
BUL 1-0 Maroons
KCCA FC went away to Mbarara City hoping to comeback with three points in the two sides’ Uganda premier league second round opening fixture. The Mbarara-based had held the 12-time champions in the previous three league meetings prior to the Wednesday clash at Kakyeka stadium, and there were questions about KCCA’s ability to become the first side to beat the Ankole Lions at Kakyeka this season. Mbarara City went ahead to hold the table leaders to barren league stalemate in a game of missed goal scoring opportunities for both sides. KCCA had no manager Mike Mutebi on bench as he began his four-match ban by FUFA. The Visitors had the best chance when Allan Kyambadde hit the post in the second stanza after Jude Semugabi had also tested the visiting goal keeper early before the break. Wasteful Semugabi was later replaced by debutant Raymond Onyai with ten minutes to go. Ibrahim Orit was named the Man of the match –a feat that comes with Shs100,000 courtesy of Pilsner Lager. KCCA FC’s 4th draw of the season left them on top with 37 points whilst Mbarara City sit third with 29 points after 16 games. Meanwhile, BUL FC moved a place up to fourth with a 1-0 home win at 12th placed Maroons FC in Njeru. Pilsner Man of the match Farouk Banga scored the only goal in the 41st minute. The league returns on Friday with two matches on card. Holders Vipers SC host Kirinya Jinja SSS at St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende whilst Paidha Black Angels host Ndejje University at Green light stadium, Arua in the battle for survival.
