Express FC have confirmed the exit of head coach Kefa Kisala and his entire coaching staff on mutual consent. This follows Red Eagles’ 2-0 home loss to Police FC on Monday at Betway Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku where a section of rowdy fans attacked Club chairman Kiryowa Kiwanuka asking him to sack Kisala. Kiryowa initially trashed media reports of Kisala firing through a tweet: ‘that is not true’. But a day after speculations, he confirmed Kisala’s exit in a circular released on Tuesday. According to the circular, the move to change the technical staff is in line with the ongoing rebuilding and restructuring strategy by the board of directors. “On behalf of Express FC, I thank Coach Kisala and the outgoing technical team for the work done and wish them the best in their future endeavours,” Kiryowa said in the circular, before confirming the appointment of George Ssemwogerere, James Magala and Hassan Mubiru as head coach, assistant and trainer respectively. The trio are said to have been hired on an interim basis till the end of the season. Kisala was appointed in July last year on a two-year deal following his resignation at BUL FC. Having replaced Shafik Bisaso at the end of last season following the club’s final day relegation survival, Kisala left Express 10th on premier league log with 21 points in 17 games. He managed 5 wins, 6 draws and 6 losses as well as making it to this season’s Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 where teams await for the draw this Wednesday. Kisala won two league titles and five Uganda Cups for the Betway-sponsored Express as a player and also helped the side clinch the 2006 Uganda Cup in his first spell as head coach.
