Mbarara City FC came on top of the ‘Ankole derby’ on Friday with a 3-0 home win at Nyamityobora in a league clash at Kakyeka stadium, Mbarara. Wol Makueth opened the scoring in the opening two minutes before Pilsner Man of the match Paul Mucuurezi netted his 6th of the season 24 minutes later. Jude Semugabi completed the wrath in the 71st minute as the Livingstone Mbabazi’s side continued with their unbeaten home run. The victory also kept the Ankole Lions third with 35 points from 18 games while the Abanyakale remained third from bottom with 12 points from as many games. Meanwhile, Brian Majwega scored a second half penalty to give Maroons a 1-0 away win at URA FC but it was goal keeper Emmanuel Akol match of the match heroics that literally won the points for the Prisons’ side that had lost 2-0 at home last timeout. Maroons moved a place to 12th with 18 points after 18 games while the Tax Collectors remained 4th with 28 points from as many games.
