Team Madol continued with their hunt for their maiden FNL (Friday Night Lights) Basketball title over the weekend with a 21-16 triumph in the quarter-finals against Team Enabu at Panamera Bar, Lugogo. With skipper Jimmy Enabu playing the tactician role on the touchline, Team Enabu was tipped for glory and indeed kicked off proceedings on a high although Team Madol had another say at the end of it all. Team Madol’s UCU Lady Canons’ power forward Sarah Ageno single-handedly led her side to glory returning 14 points including shooting twice off the 2-point arc. In the middle of the game, she picked a knock but she shrugged it off after sensing a plotted comeback from Enabu’s men. “It was a tight game especially in the earlier minutes. We controlled their movement and made sure we utilized our chances,’’ Ageno noted, claiming that they are ready for the semi-finals and finals this weekend. Three-time winners, Team Ikong also showed character following their hard fought 14-17 win against Team Fahmy. Skipper Joseph Ikong (Betway Power), who led his side to glory in 2011, 2012 and 2014 also featured and was impressive, even outside the arc. Debutants, Team Zama who have been tipped to claim the title beat Team Soro 9-11 but were without Africa’s number one 3*3 star Hope Akello. However, skipper Jamila ‘Zama’ Nansikombi finally featured and registered four points. Ritah Immanishimwe also impressed with shots from outside the arc. Team Flirsh overcame Team Kikiri off a 16-17 win during extra-time play after a 15-all draw in the game-clock play. In the corporate category, Team Roke Telekom were the only unbeaten side as they eased past Team Tusker Lite and Team NXT Radio off 13-17 and 13-19 victories respectively. Team Tusker Lite are winless following a 6-8 to Team NXT Radio.
