The 2019 and third edition of the FUFA Women’s Cup got underway over the weekend with a record made in the annual knockout competition. Crested Cranes defender Shadia Nankya scored seven to help her Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga progress to the next stage with a 10-0 win at Watoto Women FC on Sunday at Lubiri SSS. The defender, who was employed upfront, did not disappoint –scoring seven of the ten goals on the day. Esther Naluyimba grabbed a brace and Rashidah Nankya scored the other goal. The result went down the books of history as the biggest victory in the competition since its inception in 2016. Additionally, Nankya also set up a new record as the first player to score seven goals in one FUFA recognised women football competition. Nankya has so far scored five goals in the league; thus taking her goal tally to twelve in all competitions.
