Ahead of their 2018/19 Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 away fixture against FUFA Big league side Wakiso Giants at Bugembe stadium this Friday, Tooro United are buoyed by two facts: they ejected last season champions KCCA in penalties at the previous stage at Buhinga stadium, Fort Portal and also have Tooro King’s (Omukama) full support. His Majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV congratulated the team from his Kingdom after ejecting KCCA with a tweet: “I Congratulate #TooroUnited for proceeding to the round of 16 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup tournament. Tooro is behind you all the way! #MakeTooroProud #VisitTooro.” The King’s massage in support, is not taken for granted by Tooro United, and are ready to fight tooth and nail to pay off the royal faith in them. The Wasswa Bbosa side beat KCCA 3-1 in penalties after a 1-1 normal time stalemate and raid Wakiso Giants with hopes of securing their visa to the quarter finals. The hosts will be without Norman Ojik (Cup tied) after playing for Police, Ayub Kisalita is injured while goal keeper Yasin Mugabi makes the match day squad. Coach Ibrahim Kirya is likely to make very few changes in his starting XI not as it was against Kireka United on the previous stage. The Purple Sharks beat Kireka 5-4 in penalties at Namboole after a 2-all normal time draw. Kirya’s side has won all but one game at home this season and are yet to concede in Bugembe. Only Doves All Stars forced them to a barren league stalemate at home. The Visitors meanwhile will also have a full squad for selection and will hope that goal keeper Joel Mutakubwa remains inspirational –having saved three KCCA spot kicks at the previous round. Wakiso and Tooro won one each of the two pre-season games. The Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 action continues on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
