MUBS 0-0 UCU

Two-time champions Makerere University Business School (MUBS) failed to register their first win at Uganda Christian University (UCU) after the two sides played out to a barren stalemate on Tuesday at Nakawa in group D. The result means that UCU are unbeaten against MUBS in the Pepsi University football league. Before the Tuesday fixture, the sides had last met in 2017 with UCU winning both home and away. Prior to that, the two teams drew 1-1 in 2014. MUBS who won back to back league titles in 2014 and 2015 have struggled in recent years in the Pepsi-sponsored tournament –failing to make it past the group stage last season. MUBS coach Charles Ayiekoh however remains optimistic that his side are bidding for the title this season. Action continues this Wednesday when St. Lawrence University host 2017 champions Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi. In other results, debutants International University of East Africa (IUEA) held two-time champions Kampala University (KU) to a goalless draw on Saturday at Villa Park. On Sunday, Kumi University and Busitema University also played out to a 1-1 stalemate. Solomon Opio scored for visiting Kumi in the 22ndminute while Titus Ngabo equalized for the hosts Busitema 17 minutes later. Champions Kyambogo University started title defense with a 4-2 home win at Kampala International University (KIU) despite being reduced to 10 in the 80th minute.
