Ndejje University 4-3 Tooro United
Asuman Lubowa recorded a winning start to his new technical director (TD) role at Ndejje University after the struggling side stunned Tooro United with a 4-3 home win on Wednesday in the Premier League at the Arena of Visions, Luwero. The former Uganda Cranes Coach and FUFA technical director was appointed on a three-year deal to help the University side avoid relegation after just a season in topflight football. “I urge the players to remain focused, disciplined and work as a unit to foster team work”, Lubowa noted after his unveiling on Monday by club chairman Paul Mark Kayongo. Francis Onekalit scored twice in the opening ten minutes to give Ndejje a colorful start, but Ronald Odokonyera’s own goal a minute to half hour mark cut the deficit before Mahad Yaya Kakooza leveled matters in the 40th minute. Anwar Ntege restored the hosts’ lead from the spot in the added three minutes to give home fans excitement into the break. Ronald Odokonyera paid back for the own goal horror with Ndejje’s fourth in the 77th minute before Simon Peter Sserunkuma scored the third for the visitors which proved to be a consolation. This was Ndejje’s 4th win of the season and the first time they won two straight games –having beaten Maroons away last time out. It was also Tooro United’s 6th loss of the season and also first league loss since December last year when they fell 1-0 away to Mbarara City. Ndejje remained 14th in the relegation zone with 16 points after 20 games, 12 points behind Tooro United that slipped a place to seventh.
