Mbarara City coach Livingstone Mbabazi failed to record his first win against former bosses as Onduparaka ended his side’s unbeaten home run with a 2-1 win on Wednesday in the Premier League. Before the thrilling tie at Kakyeka stadium, Mbarara City had not lost at home this season and had scored 9 in the 10 games in front of their fans. They were also yet to concede in the previous four games of second round. Whereas the hosts were yet to lose a league game in this calendar year, the visitors were searching for their first victory at a venue where they had lost 1-0 last season courtesy of Emmanuel Ibe Obina controversial penalty. The two sides were meeting for the fourth time; Mbarara City had won once and drawn twice in the previous three meetings. Mbabazi held Onduparaka to barren draw in January on his first return to Green light stadium since switching sides but was left in disbelief as his former side inflicted the Ankole Lions to first home defeat of the season whilst Caterpillars’ grabbed first league win of 2019. In-from skipper Hillary Mukundane gave the home crowd early joy with the 20th minute opener before Onduparaka captain and Pilsner Man of the match Rashid Toha leveled matters six minutes to hour mark. Ceasar Okhuti scored the winner in the 75th minute as Onduparaka moved two places to 5th with 30 points after 20 games, six points below Mbarara City that remained third.
