Olila High school fixture against Kawempe Muslim headlined the 2019 FUFA Women Cup Round of 16 draws held at FUFA house, Mengo on Wednesday.
The much anticipated fixture will be a repeat of the 2017/18 FUFA Women Elite League final where Kawempe Muslim edged the Soroti-based side courtesy of skipper Tracy Jones Akiror’s lone strike at Lugogo.
Olila won the maiden FUFA Women’s Cup in 2017 defeating Asubo Gafford Ladies in the final played in Busia at the Madibira grounds and will be seeking their second whilst the four-time successive league champions seeking their maiden title.
Kawempe convincingly ejected last season winners UCU Lady Cardinals at the previous round after a 3-1 away win but will have to be at their best against Olila to storm the quarter finals –a stage they have never exceeded.
In the other fixtures, last season’s losing finalists She Corporate will host Muteesa I Royal University. Both teams are in Victoria group of the FUFA Women Elite League and the two league engagements have ended in barren stalemates.
Makerere University (She MAK) play Asubo Gafford Ladies while Kampala Queens face Lady Doves from Masindi. Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga will be at home against Divine Girls while Bunyaruguru Girls (Rubirizi District) take on Tooro Queens from Fort Portal (Kabalore district).
Sagich Royal from Serere district faces Echos High School from Soroti District. FUFA Club Licensing manager, Ivan Kintu Bayige explained that the fixtures involving Tooro Queens against Bunyaruguru Girls and Sagich Royal against Echos High School were drawn according to the geographical location of the teams.
The Round of 16 fixtures will be played between March 16-17 and the one-legged ties will not need extra time in case normal time scores are even.
