KCCA FC play host to rivals SC Villa at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo this Saturday, with maintaining top spot in the premier league their immediate target. Mike Mutebi’s men saw their unbeaten home run ended on Wednesday as they lost 2-1 to URA FC courtesy of Shafik Kagimu’s brace. They go into the tricky fixture knowing that Vipers beat Express 2-0 on Friday at Kitende to level (45) points. The biggest undoing for the hosts is the absence of their most consistent player and skipper Timothy Away who sits out due to accumulated yellow cards while the fixture comes early for returning Herbert Achai. The good news though is the return of Filbert Obenchan. After Wednesday defeat, Mutebi admitted that their title chase had been dented but reiterated that the title will go to the wire. “The points between leaders and challengers are small, we must win our games. Pressure seems to have mounted on my players yet me as a manager, I have no pressure. We shall try to see how to offload that mounting pressure from the players,” noted Mutebi, whose side has managed a point out of the possible six in the last two games. Whereas KCCA succumbed to second league loss, SC Villa were also held to a 1-1 home draw by exciting Police FC. It was the 11th draw for Jogoos and only URA have recorded the same number of stalemates. Coach Douglas Bamweyana has proved a leading tinker man this season -having failed to sustain a similar starting XI. “We have always wanted to win our games; especially at home. It is disappointing that we did win against Police but we shall work harder in the next game against KCCA,” noted Bamweyana, whose side has managed two points from last two games. Joseph Ssemujju faces late fitness test while Derrick Ndahiro returns from suspension for the visitors. Bashir Mutanda scored his 12th of the campaign and lies a goal below current league top scorer Juma Balinya (Police). KCCA won the first round contest 3-2 at Namboole and the Jogoos are yearning for revenge at Lugogo where they picked a point last season. The Villa park side is 12th with 23 points after 21 games, 22 points adrift leaders KCCA FC.
