Vipers SC 2-0 Express
Mbarara City 2-1 Paidha Black Angels
Dan Sserunkuma kept afloat Vipers SC title hopes by sinking struggling former side Express with a brace on Saturday at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende.
The striker neatly finished off Aziz Kayondo’s cross from left after an exciting run by the exciting teenage left back after just seven minutes as the dominant Venoms soaked up the home side’s pressure.
Sserunkuma completed his brace when he excellently finished off Abraham Ndugwa’s defense splitting pass after just four minutes of restart. The former Express player did not celebrate any of the goals for respect to former side. Despite his 10th and 11th league goals of the season earning him the Pilsner Man of the match accolade that comes with Shs100000 prize money, Sserunkuma was also a culprit of so many missed chances. The striker missed four clear chances inside the area in the opening half before he was moved wide left as Coach Michael Nam Ouma brought on Steven Mukwala for Ndugwa in second half to lead the line in a tactical change. Express looked absolutely disjointed and had no real threat to Fabien Mutombora in the Venoms’ goal. Away from center backs Isaac Mutanga and John Revita, no other Red Eagles player played to at least average and were deserved losers. The victory moved Vipers level on points with KCCA although the Mike Mutebi side leads by a better (6) goal difference. KCCA host SC Villa this Saturday at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo and victory extends their lead to three points on top. Meanwhile, Mbarara City returned to winning ways after two straight losses with a 2-1 home win at Paidha Black Angels. Paul Mucureezi scored his 7th of the season from the spot in the 43rd minute before Dickens Okwir leveled matters for the visitors two minutes later. Jude Semugabi sealed the win for the Ankole Lions in the 76th minute. Mbarara remained 3rd on table with 39 points while Paidha also stayed at the bottom with 12 points with eight games to go.
