Nemostars seek financial help ahead of continental championship

Only a miracle will get 5-time Men national league winners Nemostars to this year’s continental championship in Cairo, Egypt due 30th March to 11th April 2019 this time around.

The maverick club, whose men’s side has represented Uganda for the last five years at the Africa Club Championships, needs $30,000 in less than four weeks to make it to their sixth appearance.

Some of this money, like participation fees and air ticket booking, needs to be paid weeks in advance lest the team misses out on bargain ticket rates and/or is excluded from the list of 24.

Additionally, Nemostars needs to incur extra expenses to prepare the team. They have just returned from the Zone Five championships in Kigali at a cost of Shs5m and need another Shs3m to join Kenya’s top teams in Kitale, Kenya in two weeks’ time for much needed pre-championship competition.

“We have spread our appeal to all those who have sponsored us in the past, to our fans, supporters and well-wishers and to the Ministry of Education and Sports as well as National council of sports. The response is not encouraging and may not see us through the financial deadlines,” says club Patron Neko Muduse-Ojala, who admitted that: “it has never been busy, but this time around it is really tough.”
