Kyambogo vs Busitema, Kyambogo
Friday result
KIU 2-3 Kumi
Holders Kyambogo University host Busitema University this Sunday in Group C of the Pepsi University Football League looking to consolidate their position at the summit. Kyambogo, who are unbeaten since last season, have won two games on the trot to top Group C with 4 points despite being docked 2 points and 2 goals on start for their fans indiscipline last season. However, Kyambogo will have to give a better display than their previous game when they luckily collected maximum points on visit to Kumi University. “Kumi was a tough team to play. They played very well and gave us little room to create any goals but thankfully, we were able to score with the few opportunities that we had. Against Busitema, I know we shall do better especially since we are playing at home,” noted Sserwadda, whose side faces a side that is yet to lose a game this season; having drawn their last two games against Kumi and KIU respectively. Busitema coach Namugenyi Dorothy is confident they can get their first win of the season away at Kyambogo.
“Kyambogo are a good team and have been having a good run. They play a compact game and are not easy to score against. However, I know that if we play our game and do what we have been practicing in training, we shall come away with all three points,” Namugenyi said. Meanwhile, Kumi University came from behind to edge hosting Kampala International University (KIU) 3-2 on Friday. KIU took the lead in the 55th minute through Abubaker Tijan but Kumi equalised a minute later through substitute Michael Othieno. Kumi then went ahead of the time in the 70th minute through Andrew Ocana but Joel Wampamba leveled matters for KIU six minutes later. Both sides kept the chase for the winner until Yafes Okiso 80th minute goal that secured all three points for Kumi. The results see Kumi rise to second place on the group, level on points with holders Kyambogo University –who have a game in hand.
