Total Afcon Egypt 2019
Sunday result, Group L
Tanzania 3-0 Uganda
FUFA President Eng Moses Magogo has labelled Uganda Cranes performance against Tanzania away on Sunday as the ‘worst in his administration’.

The Cranes, who had already qualified with 13 points and not conceding a goal, were thumped 3-0 in Tanzania in their last group game as the Taifa Stars secured their ticket to the 2019 Afcon finals in Egypt.
The wobbly results llcame with mixed reaction on social media -with some voice sounding out syndicate as the caude of the result.
Magogo feels that no one can feel more disappointed than him.
“As administration we provided everything the technical team and players wanted. We therefore all ought to understand the following facts: All allowances and outstanding bonuses were fully paid before the match. The coach asked for a camp in Egypt, we provided it. The coach has full independent hand to select the team including the lineup. We have and will never interfere with the team callup and lineup. Bonuses of 2500 USD per player for the win and 1500 USD for a 0-0 draw were announced before the match of Tz. Despite NCS not providing the funds required, the FUFA Administration mobilized funds and cleared everything outstanding before the match. I want to listen to any explanation why it is not the coach and the team responsible for this dismal performance but the FUFA President and/or the administration.
We are also football fans hurt by the bad results. We are also football fans sometimes in disagreement with the decisions of the coaches but we support them because they are the most technical. Now is the time for the coaches to explain their selections and tactics but not before the match.
We will wait for the technical explanations from the technical team of the match,” read Magogo’s statement he shared of social media. Tanzania will return to the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 39 after finishing second in Group L behind the Cranes (who had already qualified) and deny Lesotho (who drew 0-0 away to Cape Verde in a concurrent game) a first ever place at the finals. Emmanuel Amunike’s team will be the first from the East African nation to play at the AFCON since way back in 1980. Tanzania looked the more proactive side from the early stages and they claimed the lead on 21 minutes, with Simon Msuva’s shot from the right of the penalty area taking a deflection off a defender which put it beyond the reach of Uganda goalkeeper Denis Onyango. It was the first goal the Cranes had conceded in the qualification phase. The hosts continued to look the better team through the remainder of the first half, but were unable to add to their advantage. However, early in the second stanza, they were awarded a penalty for hand-ball and Erasto Nyomi stroked home from the spot to make it 2-0 in the 51st minute.Just seven minutes later it was 3-0 in favour of the Taifa Stars, as Aggrey Morris got on the end of John Bocco’s cross from the right by-line and glanced home a perfectly-placed header to end the game as a contest. Tanzania ended the group with eight points, second behind the 13-point haul of Uganda. Lesotho and Cape Verde completed the standings with six and five points respectively.
