IUEA 0-3 UCU
KU1-2 MUBS
Uganda Christian University (UCU) stretched their lead at the summit of group D with a commanding 3-0 away win over winless International University of East Africa (IUEA) on Wednesday in the Pepsi University football league played Kansanga.
Timothy Oyam opened the scoring in the 12th minute and Kaye Kizito stretched lead a minute to half hour mark before James Semambo took the game beyond hosts’ reach in the 45th minute as the visitors carried a comfortable 3-0 lead into the break.
It was an undesirable start for IUEA new coach Pius Ngabo as his side remained at the foot with just a point whilst UCU leading with 8 points. In the same group, MUBS beat Kampala University (KU) 2-1 at Villa Park on Thursday as the two former (two-time) champions clashed.
MUBS scored through Alex Mandela and Said Munir in the 16th and 42nd minute before Brian Omirambe pulled one back for the hosts from the spot in the 90th minute.
The win moved Charles Ayiekoh’s side to 8 points, only trailing UCU by a five-goal difference while Vincent ‘Titi’ Tumusiime’s KU are third with 3 points.
Meanwhile, MUBS coach Charles Ayiekoh found hard time to calm down his side’s students, who even stoned KU bus. Teams whose fans go rowdy in this Pepsi-sponsored league are docked 4 points and goals and some times suspended.
