After his impressive performance debut in the professional boxing, Shafik Kiwanuka has started enjoying the fruits of his sweat.
- The heavy weight boxer, who floored Kenya’s David Kamara in the opening round of the 6-round bout last month at MTN Arena in Lugogo, has landed a sponsorship partnership from Kansanga-based International University of East Africa (IUEA). Though monetary details of the deal remained scanty, this website has been tipped that the deal that was unveiled on Tuesday is worth Shs5m. This is after signing a five-year management deal with Big Striker international boxing promotion company in January worth Shs100m. “I am happy that I am getting support and I promise to impress. After a winning start to my professional career, I now look forward to beating everybody until I reach world champions like Anthony Joshua. I am a killing machine and I will kill whoever comes my way,” vowed Kiwanuka, commonly known as ‘the Killing Machine’. Hassan Alwi, a director at IUEA says that, as a sports person (rally driver) he wants to see young sports men to achieve their career goals –the reason they came on board. “We shall dress him up, facilitate his training among others,” said Alwi, who also promised to offer Kiwanuka scholarship if he wishes.
