Crested Cranes coach Faridah Bulega believes they can overturn the first leg loss to make a date with Cameroon in the last qualifier game of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games women football qualifiers.
The Crested Cranes fell 3-2 to Ethiopia on Wednesday in Addis Ababa and will be eager to overturn the result when the two sides face-off in the return leg this Saturday at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.
“We came to play safe and we are glad to have scored two away goals. This away goals are handy as we shall be seeking 1-0 win to progress,” noted Bulega, whose returned home yesterday night and went straight to camp at Sky hotel, Nalya.
The team had their training at Luzira prisons grounds on Thursday at 2pm before Ethiopia trained later at 4pm after arriving earlier in the day.
“Ethiopia was a good side but we shall sharpen our attacking force in the return leg,” added Bulega.
USA-based Sandra Nabweteme missed a penalty and Aisha Namukisa gave the hosts an early lead through an own goal. Loza Abera and Serkaddis Guta scored the other two goals for Ethiopia.
Under-pressure Debiso Tarikuwa scored an own goal before UCU’s Hasfah Nassuna came off the bench to score another important away goal as Ethiopia won 3-2.
