Over 50 secondary schools participated in the Fresh Dairy Secondary School Ball Games 1 Kampala qualifiers over the weekend.
The participating schools competed in the Racket and Bat games national qualifiers at Lugogo indoor stadium and Kololo Secondary School respectively.

All the top two teams (winner and first runners up) in each category automatically qualify for this year’s national finals at Mbale Secondary School on May 4-11.
Kololo High and Kibuli SSS were the winners and runners up in the Boys tennis respectively while St Mary’s Namagunga and Gayaza High topped in the Girls category.
Mbogo High and Rubaga Girls were the top two schools in Girls badminton while Kibuli SSS and Kakungulu memorial were the top in Boys.
Mbogo College and Mbogo Mixed were the top schools in Girls table tennis whilst Mbogo College and Seeta High were top in Boys category.
Vincent Omoth, the Fresh Dairy Marketing Manager and guest of honor on the final day, said that as the games title sponsors, they are pleased with the growing the stature of Uganda’s secondary schools games.
“Fresh Dairy’s sponsorship essentially serves to nurture the sporting talent of our youth while highlighting the need for health and nutrition using our products. Fresh Dairy believes in developing a complete individual in terms of Sports, Academia and Health,” he said. Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) General Secretary Christopher Mugisha said that the qualifiers attracted over 2500 students across the country that are competing in various disciplines including basketball, football (Girls U20), Rugby (15s), Hockey, Table Tennis, Badminton and Tennis. Mugisha also revealed that the Kampala District Girls football and basketball (Boys) finals will take place at Old Kampala SSS on April 11 while the Wakiso district finals are due April 13 at Wakisha Resource Centre.
