Vipers SC granted title challengers KCCA FC a six-point advantage at the top of the Uganda premier league after their disappointing barren away stalemate against Mbarara City on Wednesday at the Kakyeka stadium. Vipers went into the game four points adrift KCCA after the latter’s 2-0 win over Paidha Black Angles in Zombo on Tuesday –a result that saw Paidha become the first team to officially get relegated to Fufa Big league next season. The Mike Mutebi side now needs seven points from the remaining four games but can win the title by fewer points if the Venoms slip. KCCA that have a superior goal difference (11) lead with 53 points, 6 above second placed Vipers SC, whose 11th draw moved them to 50 points. Meanwhile, BUL FC came on top of the Jinja derby with a 1-0 home win over Kirinya Jinja SSS, thanks to Pilsner Man of the match Richard Wandyaka’s 54th minute goal. In other results, Maroons 2-1 home win at Tooro United enabled them move a place to 12th to replace SC Villa as the relegation battle tightens up. Pilsner Man of the match Bronson Nsubuga and Issac Otto first half goals were enough to ensure Maroons 7th win of the season while John Byamukam scored Tooro United’s consolation in the 87th minute. At Namboole stadium, Nelson Senkatuka 10th goal of the campaign in the 29thminute condemned URA FC to a 1-0 loss to Bright Stars. It was the first loss for the Tax Collectors in all competitions since February 18 when the same Fred Kajoba side ejected them out of this season’s Stanbic Uganda Cup. URA stayed 3rd with 43 points, one above 4thplaced Mbarara City.
