Kawempe Muslim Secondary School showed that they are still undisputed sports Power House after winning both the 2019 Girls and Boys football titles of the Fresh Dairy-Uganda secondary schools sports association (USSSA) Kampala regional qualifiers.

In the highly contested Girls football final at Old Kampala SS on Thursday, the national defending champions beat Uganda Martyrs High School, Rubaga 2-0 courtesy of goals from Samali Nakachwa and Juliet Nalukenge.
Kawempe thus qualified to the Fresh Dairy-sponsored national Ball Games 1 national finals due May 4-11 at Mbale SSS as Kampala region champions and will be joined by runners up Uganda Martyrs High school as well as semi finalists; Katuuso Community and Gaddafi integrated.
In other disciplines, Kakungulu memorial were the Girls hockey winners while Kibuli SSS won in Boys.
Crane High school lifted the Boys basketball title whilst Nabisunsa Girls emerged the Girls winners.
All the semi finalists in each discipline will represent Kampala region at the nationals. Meanwhile, Kawempe were also crowned the Copa Coca-Cola (Boys) football Kampala regional qualifiers champions after their toiled win over Kakungulu memorial.
The two teams played to a goalless draw in normal time before Kawempe won 5-4 in spot kicks after their goal keeper Akram Mubiru saved Joseph Mukiibi’s kick.
Kawempe, Kakungulu and Uganda Martyrs, Rubaga will represent the region at the Copa Coca-Cola national tournament that kicks off May 7 at Jinja College School. USSSA President Patrick Okanya and Fresh Dairy Marketing manager Vincent Omoth graced the closing ceremony and awarded the respective team and individual winners. Omoth thanked USSSA for overseeing the management of the games throughout the country, highlighting the need for health and nutrition using Fresh Dairy products. “Fresh Dairy believes in developing a complete individual in terms of Sports, Academia and Health and our sponsorship essentially serves to nurture the sporting talent of youth while,” he said. In the Fresh Dairy -racket games national qualifiers held at the MTN Arena in Lugogo last week, Kololo High and Kibuli SSS were the winners and runners up in the Boys tennis respectively while St Mary’s Namagunga and Gayaza High topped in the Girls category. Mbogo High and Rubaga Girls were the top two schools in Girls badminton while Kibuli SSS and Kakungulu memorial were the top in Boys. Mbogo College and Mbogo Mixed were the top schools in Girls table tennis whilst Mbogo College and Seeta High were top in Boys category. All the top two teams (winner and first runners up) in each category automatically qualify for this year’s national finals. The Fresh Dairy-Secondary School games attract over 2500 secondary school students across the country are tackling various disciplines to include: basketball, football (Girls U20), Rugby (15s), Hockey, Table Tennis, Badminton and Tennis.
