2019 UMEA Games Top 5 Positions
1 – Mbogo Mixed (3 Medals – 2 Gold, 1 Bronze)
2 – Kakungulu Memorial (2 Medals – 2 Gold)
3 – Kawempe Muslim (2 Medals – 1 Gold, 1 Silver)
4 – Kawanda S.S (2 Medals – 2 Silvers)
5 – Mbogo College (1 Medal – 1 Gold)
The 2019 Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA) Games successfully climaxed at Kasawo Islamic Secondary School on Easter Monday with Mbogo Mixed Secondary School wining the overall title after gathering two Gold medals and one Bronze in the four-day championship.
The champions, who dethroned Kibuli SS, garnered Gold medals in Table Tennis (Girls) and Volleyball (boys) as well as Bronze in Boys football.
Hajji Abubaker Kakembo, the General Secretary of UMEA, lauded all the participating schools, partners and sponsors before appealing to the Muslim-funded schools to uphold to the true spirit of UMEA.
“I thank all the participating schools, the host school (Kasawo Islamic SS) and organizing committee. I call upon all the Muslim-based schools to continue taking part in the UMEA games because they are meant to promote unity and Muslim brotherhood,” said Kakembo before crowning of the winners. The UMEA games organizing committee chairperson, Hajji Twahil Kiteezala praised hosts Kasawo Islamic SS for great organisation and atmosphere. “I thank the schools administration and students for participation as well as Tropical Bank, Crown Beverages Limited, Uganda Police for the sponsorship,” he noted.
Kawanda S.S was announced as the 2020 hosts.
