Uganda is set to host the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Zone 5 All Africa Games Women Qualifiers from May 18-25 May, 2019 at the MTN Arena Lugogo.
Six nations including; Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Egypt will take part. Uganda will also take part in the men’s category which is set to take place in Nairobi, Kenya from June 3-10 along other countries that include; Egypt, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Sudan and Tanzania.
Each zone will produce a winner for the continental championship due August this year in Morocco.
However, to compete in all the tournaments, Uganda needs about 100m especially for the Nairobi showdown.
Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) President Hadija Namanda told the media on Thursday at Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) that they are leaving no stone un turned in hunt for funds.
“We have engaged a few companies but also request government to help us financially,” said Namanda, who expects the national teams to perform better in all the competition, should the federation get the funding to sponsor the teams.
