Proline returned to the Premier league after their 2-0 away win over Kabale Sharp in the last game of the FUFA Big league 2018/19 season at the Kabale Municipal stadium on Thursday.
Goals from Joseph Mandela and Bright Anukani in the opening half were enough to earn Proline automatic promotion to the Premier league next season a season after being relegated on the final day of the 2017/18 season.
Proline amassed 62 points to top Rwenzori group while their striker Ivan Bogere, with 14 goals finished the league’s top scorer. Away from promotion, Proline also has a chance to win two trophies this season.
The Shafik Bisaso’s side already made it to the finals of this Season’s Stanbic Uganda Cup due May 25 at the Masaka recreational grounds which is their first ever appearance at the final.
The Lugogo-based side will also battle in the 2018/19 FUFA Big league final with another promoted side that topped Elgon group Wakiso Giants on May 18 at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.
Bisaso has always reiterated that priority was earning promotion but after achieving the feat, the focus now turns to Uganda Cup. Elsewhere, Dove FC beat Kansai Plascon 2-0 on road to book a place in the play-offs.
In Mbale, Kataka survived relegation after a 1-1 draw with Lira based Amuka Bright Stars.
Kyetume and UPDF from the Elgon group will play in the play-offs while Kansai Plascon and Dove FC will come from Rwenzori group for the play offs.
One team from the play-offs will take the remaining third slot to the Premier league.
