Kitende, Buddo land fair last 16 draws as JIPRA dates Kibuli

Record Copa Coca-Cola champions Kibuli SS will have to bring out their best on Wednesday in the last 16 action if they are to storm the quarter finals of this year’s championship in Jinja.

Kibuli made it to the last 16 on the last day of group stages after a 1-0 win over holders Buddo SS on Monday at the Kakindu grounds, thanks to Nicholas Luzige goal.

During last the 16 draws held at Jinja College on Tuesday, Kibuli, who progressed from group H as runners up behind Buddo SS, were drawn to face tough Jinja progressive academy (JIPRA) at the Mighty Arena.

Meanwhile, favorites St Mary’s SS-Kitende were handed relatively fair draw despite facing tricky St Kaggwa at the Mighty Arena.

St Andrew finished behind JIPRA in group A while the 2015 champions (Kitende) are unbeaten and topped group E with 6 wins and one draw. Nakaseke International College progressed as runners up in the group, 3 points below Kitende.

Buddo SS will hope to recover from Kibuli SS defeat last timeout  when they take on unpredictable Uganda Martyrs high school, Rubaga at the Mighty Arena.

Uganda Martyrs came to this stage as group D runners up behind Standard High-Zana.

In other fixtures, St Henry’s-Kitovu, who finished second behind St Julian in group F, face dark horses St John’s-Mukono, who finished second behind Royal Giants in group C at the Kakindu grounds.

Another much anticipated fixture sees 2016 champions Jinja SS battle St Julian High school at Kakindu grounds.

Jinja SS led group B and will rely on red hot Lawrence Tezikya for inspiration. The striker got out of group stage with 10 goals, one behind lead scorer John Musenzi (High Standard-Kateera).

Royal Giants against Nakaseke international as well as Standard High-Zana against Kawempe Royal are the other fixtures to watch out at the Kakindu and Jinja SS grounds respectively.

Masaka SS, who topped group G face Bulo Parents that came as group B runners up at Kakindu grounds.
