Ugandan players in the week two of the ITF World Tennis tour currently ongoing at Lugogo Tennis Complex turned into spectators after bowing out.
David Oringa was the last Ugandan star to bow out be after losing in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) against USA William Bushamuka on Thursday morning in Court One at the Round of 32 in a rescheduled tie from the previous day due to poor weather (rainfall).
Oringa who has a wild card entry to the tournament was also eliminated in week one on first round. Another Ugandan Simon Ayella was ejected out on Wednesday despite a remarkable performance.
Week one winner Ivan Nedelko is on the verge of winning this week’s prize too after beating Indian star Dev Prajwal 6-1, 6-2 to progress to the quarter finals.
The Russian won thrice during last year’s four-week long event and stands favorite this timeout.
The only East African star going strong at the event is Guy Iradukunda. The Burundian beat India’s Sunish Dhruv 6-4, 6-3 to reach the quarter finals played on Friday.
