Winnie Nanyondo put up a good show at the IAAF Shangani Diamond League here she broke her personal best and national record on Saturday in the 1500m with time of 4:01.39 to finish third. Nanyondo also qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and World Championships as well after managing six points. Uganda’s Esther Chebet had a spirited run but she finished 12th with 4:07.75 timing. In the 1500m, Mauritius star Rababe Arafi came atop with 4:01:15 timing to claim eight points. Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay finished second with 4:01:25 time to get seven points. Tsegay and Arafi also attained Olympic and World Championship qualification. Ethiopia had fielded four athletes in the 1500m women and the last finished eight (Alemaz Samuel) with a winning time of 4:03:79). There were 15 athletes from different nations in this heat. In the women’s 300m, Ugandan female runner Peruth Chemutai finished 3rd with 9:17.78 time to secure Olympica and World Championship qualification. Esther Chebet finished with 4:07.75 time in 12th. Uganda’s best runner Joshua Cheptegi opened his season in same event with 13.06.680. Stephen Kissa was 15th with a time of 13.19.95.
