Express FC have released three more players, the club confirmed in a statement yesterday. Midfielders Badru Nsubuga, Mubaraka Nsubuga and defender Arthur Kiggundu are the latest causalities in the mysterious squad overhaul at Betway Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.
The players and their representatives are said to have failed to agree on the new contract terms with the Betway-Sponsored club and thus their exit.
“The three players and their representatives have failed to consent with the contract extension offers provided to them by the club. The club has decided to let them to ply their trade elsewhere,” reads the club statement.
Nsubuga (Mubarak) was part of the team that fought relegation last year after joining The Red Eagles club two seasons ago from junior side Wembley FC.
Kiggundu and (Badru) Nsubuga meanwhile joined the six-time Premier league champions at the start of last season from SC Villa and Wembley FC respectively.
The axed trio join last season skipper Isaac Mutanga, who was the first to be offloaded before Tony Odur, Ibrahim Kayiwa, Shafiq Nana Kakeeto, Charles Mutima Musoke, Mathias Muwanga, Pius Mbidde and Joel Male followed to the exit door.
It is understood that Express are in search for top notch players ahead of a more competitive 2019/20 season after finishing 10th in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League and bowing out of Stanbic Uganda Cup at semi finals.
Club Chairman Kiryowa Kiwanuka has of recent reiterated that George Ssemwogerere will stay the head coach for the 10-time joint record Uganda Cup winners.
