Mbarara City have confirmed the signing of exciting forward Gadaffi Gadihno Anguzu from Onduparaka on a two-year deal. The Ankole Lions confirmed the deal on Thursday as the club’s first signing ahead of the 2019/20 season.
The side that finished 5th in the Premier league last season is also in advance talks with another Onduparaka forward last season FUFA Drum tournament MVP Vianey Ssekajugo, whose contract with the Caterpillars reportedly expired.
In the same way, Mbarara City signed defender Bashir Muweesi from Kampala region league outfit Katwe United on a three-year deal.
However, Katwe United, through club president Hon. Allan Ssewanyana, insist that the player signed from Kisugu United at the start of last season, is still contracted and thus, his switch is illegal.

“We want to state that Muweesi’s contract with Katwe United still has one and a half years before it lapses in January 2020. As of now, there is no understanding with Mbarara City to see him cut short his contract and join them. He is still our player. Katwe United Football Club has no problem with any player joining a club of his choice as long as he follows the prescribed transfer procedures,” read Katwe United’s statement.

Mbarara City CEO Saddam Mugarura said that: “We are ready to give the compensation.” Kampala region league champions Katwe United are preparing to face Buganda region counterparts Kajjansi United in the two-legged regional league play-offs set for June 18th and 20th for promotion to FUFA Big league next season.
