W – Wananchi 3-0 DCU

M – City Lions 1-2 Rockets

M – Weatherhead 2-1 Wanachi

Weatherhead beat rivals Wananchi 2-1 on Saturday evening at the National Hockey Stadium, Lugogo to stretch lead at the summit of the Uganda Baati National Hockey League.

Moses Tushabe and Arnold Vincent Kasasa scored for Weatherhead whilst Owili scored Wanachi’s consolation.

The result moved Weatherhead to five points on top of the men’s standings with Wananchi coming second at 17 points.

Weatherhead coach-player Vincent Kasasa, who scored the late winner, lived to his promise of destabilizing Wananchi game approach.

“It feels nice to go five points clear for the first time. We strived and we achieved it but the struggle continues,” said Kasasa.

Weatherhead face Kampala Hockey Club next weekend and Kasasa is optimistic his side will come out victorious. “Definitely we have less pressure. We are focused on winning all our games since seek winning the trophy with a huge difference,” he added.

With the league being played in four rounds, Weatherhead have to meet Wananchi for two more times in their most threatening fixture.

Earlier in the day, Wananchi’s female side beat DCU 3-0 while City Lions lost 1-2 to Rockets.
