The 2019 Airtel Rising Stars (ARS) underage football tournament will have to wait until next month to enable players, coaches and fans give maximum support to the Uganda Cranes at the AFCON 2019 in Egypt.
The tournament sponsored by telecommunications giants Airtel-Uganda who are also the main sponsors of the Uganda Cranes was earlier scheduled to be launched this month, but due to Cranes AFCON fever, it was moved to July.
ARS involves players U17 both girls and boys nation-wide. The tournament has unearthed and exposed many fresh talents from the grass root as well as proving a feeder project to top clubs and national teams.
The ARS football tournament started in 2011. Last year’s edition involved over 4000 boys and 2000 girls who are both school and non-school going U17 players. This year, it is expected to return big and better with more regional qualifying centers added.
