Uganda professional boxing Commission (UPBC) President Salim Uhuru has suspended his Vice president in charge of technical for six months over a hoax, this website has learnt.
AbbeyMugayi, a renowned promoter was accused of taking earlier botched fight to Arua between Moses Golola and Ongom Kizito Kasumali and introducing Kasumali as a Kenyan.
Gololawon the 12-round light heavy non title bout by a knockout in the 8th round last weekend but Uhuru says that this was unethical and fraud since boxing lovers who expected a Kenya fighter did not get what they paid for.
Mugayi took over the fight after another promoter Eddie Gombya cancelled the fight that was to be staged at Wilson Street in Kampala over Moses Golola’s failure to honor contractual obligations.

“It is true Mugayi took over the fight and was sanctioned. However, we did not sanction any international fight with a Kenyan fighter and indeed, Kasumali has never been a Kenyan. He is a Ugandan and that was fraud from the promoter who is an administrator mandated to guide. He knew that what he did was wrong and confessed thus the fair punishment,” noted Uhuru, who also confirmed that Jackson Mugisha had been relieved of his duties as the Commission Public relations officer (PRO) over incompetence.
The Uhuru restaurants’ boss said that Mugisha is totally ignorant of what is happening in the Commission and has virtually had no impact. Mugayi has before been accused by his fellow promoters of fraud and embezzlement especially with gate collections on fight nights, while many fighters have also run to the commission complaining about Mugayi’s dishonesty. Uhuru vowed to do everything within his means to keep professional boxing clean from mafia.
