Twelve teams from Lubaga North constituency will take part in the 2019 Lubaga North Kawalya football tournament that was launched last Saturday in Nabweru.
The tournament that will run till July 12 this year at different grounds is organized by Abubaker Kawalya, who is the Lubaga division Councilor at KCCA.

Kawalya, who has set his eyes on the Lubaga North MP seat to unseat incumbent Moses Kasibante, promised to work with area community to ensure that sports grounds, especially football pitched in Lubaga are saved.
According to locals, Lubaga is headed for football pitches extinction by mysterious investors who have taken the land for construction. This has left many youths without where to spend their free time yet they are unemployed which has resulted into increased crime rate.
Namungona near By-Pass and Kiti play ground-Nankulabye among others are the latest grounds to be wiped out in the constituency.
“I will table this to KCCA and also engage different stakeholders. Sports is a source of income and also does much to reduce crime. We must reserve sports grounds especially football pitches,” noted Kawalya.
In the opening games, Masiro FC beat Kawala 3-2 while Youth Path Academy beat Bwebajja 2-1.
