The 23rd edition of the NSSF-Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) invitational tournament was launched on Tuesday at the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) in Lugogo. This year’s edition is set for August 2-4 at Lugogo Arena and Hockey Grounds. KAVC President Milly Kure told the media that KAVC International tournament is one of the ways to celebrate the platform (KAVC) that has exposed teams internationally. “The ultimate aim of the NSSF-KAVC International tournament is to provide the best platform for Premier league clubs in Uganda to compete at high level at an affordable cost due to regional participation. This year, the tournament will run under the theme: ‘Championing better community health and behavior through sports and locally, KCCA, KAVC A, MATTRIX VC, Western Volleyball Team, Uganda Prisons VC, KAVC B, Sports S, Air Force VC, Sky VC, and Uganda Police are the clubs invited in men while KAVC A, Ndejje University, Nkumba University, KCCA, Espoir, VVC, Sports S and Cobap are invited women sides. The tournament will also have over 31 foreign teams from Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, Botswana, Congo, and Ethiopia. KAVC won last year’s edition in both men and women.
