Uganda Cranes sponsors Airtel-Uganda on Friday hosted the team to a colorful dinner following the team’s remarkable performance at the AFCON 2019 in Egypt.

Uganda exited the tournament at the round of 16 –after making it to his stage for the first time in 41 years and also grabbing their first victory at the continental showpiece since 1978.

Cranes goal keeper and Captain Denis Masinde Onyango hailed ‘fantastic’ Airtel-Uganda for the support ever since they came on board. Airtel-Uganda Managing Director V.G Somasekhar commended the team for their hard work and passion during the AFCON 2019 finals.

National Council of Sports (NCS) Vice President technical Hajj Zubair Galiwango, who was the guest of honor, reiterated government’s commitment to development of football and sports in general.

On behalf of FUFA, Rogers Byamukama, the Head of marketing congratulated the team and thanked Airtel-Uganda for being by the team’s side throughout this journey.

A good number of players, technical staff (dissolved) invited guests led by Artiste and Airtel-Uganda brand Ambassador Eddy Kenzo, the media, Fufa and government officials, Airtel-Uganda staff attended the colorful dinner.

Airtel-Uganda injects Shs2.5bn into Uganda Cranes annually on top of supporting grass root football through sponsoring Airtel-Masaza Cup, Airtel Rising Stars (ARS) among others.

Airtel-Uganda joined Cranes in 2013 with Shs1.05bn four-year package which was renewed in 2017 with Shs10bn four-year sponsorship.
