Stanbic Black Pirates head into the fifth circuit of the national rugby 7s series this Saturday seeking to defend the Kabaka Coronation Cup circuit to be hosted by Shell Rimula Rhinos at the Legends grounds, Lugogo.
The weekend circuit is part of the activities to commemorate the Kabaka’s (Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II) 26th coronation.
Pirates beat Plascon Mongers 17-05 in the final to win the circuit last year before going on to clinch the series.
Black Pearls –the Pirates women side won the women competition and will have to see off competition from three teams this year to retain the title.
Whereas Pirates was at the top then with Betway Kobs second, it is actually the opposite as we go into the weekend action.
The Betway-sponsored Kobs lead the series standings with 91 points, 6 above Pirates in second. Betway Kobs have won three of the season’s four 7s circuits –beating Pirates in the final, and lost to pirates in the other. Pirates and Kobs have met in the finals of the four previous circuits and are likely
