Mustapha Kizza scored the only goal in the 62nd minute as great team build-up play as KCCA FC beat defending champions Azam FC in the final at the Kigali stadium, Nyamirambo on Saturday to win the 2019 Cecafa Kagame Cup.
It was KCCA’s second Cecafa title but Mike Mutebi’s first international trophy in senior coaching career. Mutebi has won the Premier league, Uganda Cup, FUFA Super Cup, Pilsner Super 8 and KCCA FC invitational –all at the Lugogo side.
Allan Okello, who had a remarkable show at the tournament, scored in the opening six minutes but the referee ruled for a foul in the build up to disallow the goal.

Teenager Sadat Anaku also had an attempt close off Kizza free kick before the Azam custodian kept out Mike Mutyaba effort.
The Ugandan reigning champions won their maiden Cecafa title in 1978 and lost the following year at the final. Meanwhile, Green Eagles won the tournament’s bronze medal after beating AS Maniema of the Democratic Republic of Congo 2-0.
Edward Mwamba and Amity Shambe’s were enough to hand the Choma-based side the third spot of the inter-club tournament.
The winner of the annual club regional tournament which is mainly financed by Rwandan President Paul Kagame saw crowned champions KCCA FC take prize money worth $30,000 while first and second runners up received $20,000 and $10,000 respectively.
