The dates for this year’s Airtel Rising Stars (ARS) tournament regional qualifiers have been confirmed. Six teams took part in the Kwania district 2019 ARS tournament district qualifiers.
The Boys teams are; Baropobo, Kwania and Akot whereas Kwania Young, Agwiciri and Akot registered on the girls side.
Baropobo FC will represent the boys in the Kitara and Western regional qualifies due August 28-30 in Masindi while Kwania Young FC will represent the girls.
In Apac district qualifiers, Aketo United came atop in the girls category after beating Anyapo FC 2-0 in the final while Omer FC were the boys’ elite side after defeating Anyapo Young Tigers 6-1.
The two winners will represent Apac district at the Northern and West Nile regional qualifiers due August 16-18 in Lira district. Lira District will be represented by two teams in boys and girls.
Mentor and King James in boys, Rapa Girls and King James in girls will be the Lira teams at the regional qualifiers.
Mentor defeated Buluge 3-0 whilst King James defeated Saviours 1-0 in the Lira district qualifiers Boys final.
This 8th Airtel Rising Stars (ARS) edition has 94 inter-district qualifier championships in 60 districts with an aim of increasing the talent pool as well as giving all football lovers opportunity to support their local players as they participate in the exciting talent search tournament.
Each inter-district championship will send the winners to the regional qualifier championships from which eight boys and girls teams will advance to the finals. As part of this year’s tournament, Airtel-Uganda will handover goal posts, soccer nets and balls to 40 schools countrywide to ensure continuity after the tournament.
Furthermore, national and regional winners will enjoy increased prize money up to Shs7m and Shs1.5m respectively.
The runners up will also get improved prize money up to Shs5m and Shs1m respectively. Other prizes include; certificates for all, medals, trophies, golden boot for MVP, phones and various other ARS merchandise.
Kampala regional qualifiers are scheduled for July 26-28 Buganda region qualifiers are scheduled for August 2-4 in Luwero.
The national quarter and semi finals are set for September 4-6 before the finals due September 7 in Kampala region.
